Vincent Dumez

Having suffered from three chronic diseases for several decades and, as a result, being a frequent user of health services, Mr. Dumez (MSc) has been actively involved in promoting the concept of patient partner. This commitment was illustrated in his master's thesis, but also through his interest in patient education, his involvement in various community organizations and his participation as a speaker in several national and international conferences and forums. In October 2010, Mr. Dumez became the first director of the new Office of Patient Partner Expertise at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Montreal. Since the summer of 2016, Mr. Dumez has been co-directing the University of Montreal's Center for Excellence in Patient and Public Partnership (CEPPP). Mr. Dumez is a member of several boards of directors (Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FQR-S), the Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement (CFHI), the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) and the Canadian Cardiac Arrhythmia Network (CANet)). In recent years, he has served as a special advisor to the CEO of HSO/Accreditation Canada to support the development and implementation of the Patient Partnership Strategy, and as a member of the Advisory Board for the implementation of a national Pharmacare in Canada program. More recently, he became a member of the British Medical Journal (BMJ) Patient Committee and the Canadian Medical Association Journal (CMAJ) Editorial Advisory Board, and participated in the governance of the Quebec COVID - Pandemic Research Network (RQCP). In recent months, he accepted the position of Director - Community Partnerships, within the Vice-Dean of Health Sciences at the University of Montreal. Reporting to the Vice-Dean, Mr. Dumez is responsible for guiding the development of the Faculty's community partnerships strategy and its implementation.
